Job Responsibility

Headquartered in different regions, the Regional Field Managers will be travelling extensively across their regions

For socio-economic surveys and projects in various regions —

  • Recruitment of surveyors in the project states;
  • Supervision of surveyors, etc., in the project states; and
  • Ensuring quality & quantity targets for the surveys.

For research projects / pilot surveys / field testing, etc.—

  • Collection of secondary data & other related field work.

Any other official tasks allotted from time-to-time

Eligibility

  • PG in any discipline; Management / Rural Development / Social Work preferred
  • Demonstrated field based & extensive travelling experience of more than 5 years
  • Preferred Age Group: 30-40 years

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of an Administrative Officer to provide administrative and financial management support for the team implementing the vegetable activities of the JOHAR project in Jharkhand, India for World Vegetable Center. This is part of the JOHAR comprehensive rural development project funded by the World Bank. Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage the office and provide administrative support to the WorldVeg team leader and two senior scientists based in Ranchi, and six field staff located across Jharkhand.
  • Manage administration coordination between the WorldVeg JOHAR team, JSLPS and the WorldVeg regional headquarters.
  • Provide logistical support for all staff travel, meetings, workshops and training activities.
  • Manage purchasing for the project and the maintenance of financial records, working closely with the WorldVeg regional financial officer.

Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Hindi
  • Demonstrated skills in MS-Office, data entry, and the management of electronic communications
  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to work well as a part of an administration team
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and beyond office hours when needed

Requirements:

  • Graduate in Arts or Commerce, preferably with a Postgraduate diploma or degree in Business Administration
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in handling diverse administrative responsibilities
  • Familiarity with the operations of agricultural research and development organizations

General:

This is a Consolidated Position for one year, renewable annually for up to five years, based on performance and the continuing availability of funds. The position will be based in Ranchi, Jharkhand and an attractive compensation is offered for the right candidate.

Prime Minister’s Rural Development Fellows Scheme

PMRD Fellowship is an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) where in the focus is to reduce poverty and improve the lives of people in rural India. PMRD Fellowship is being implemented in collaboration with State Governments. During the two-year duration of the Fellowship, PMRD Fellows will work closely with District Magistrates of backward and remote districts in improving programme delivery and interface with marginalized sections, aiming to reduce the developmental and governance deficits.

Fellows will also participate in a post graduate degree programme through e-enabled distance learning and contact sessions leading to M.Sc/M.Phil in Development Practice, to be conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Immediately after successful completion of the two year fellowship, a PMRD Fellow is required to spend one year in public service as a paid full-time employee of the State Rural Livelihood Mission in the State she/he is assigned to. It is expected that by their work in the field as well as through their participation in the academic programme, PMRD Fellows will enhance their capacity in programme implementation, gain field experience, acquire professional knowledge in development practice and become capable development leaders and facilitators – a much needed resource for ensuring equitable growth in India.

Thus the PMRD Fellowship has the twin objective of providing short term catalytic support to the district administration in remote districts to improve programme delivery as well as to develop a cadre of committed and competent development leaders and facilitators, who are available as a resource for rural development over the long term.
